Look how they've grown!

Check out how tall Kelly and Abbey were in this picture from last summer when we were vacationing in the Rocky Mtns. Abbey is not quite up to Dave shoulder and Kelly is up to my chin...

This was taken at our family reunion a month ago...Kelly is almost the same height as me and Abbey has almost passed Dave's shoulder. Jenny has only grown about 2 inches but her time will come. Amazing!

Nerdy Jenny

Sometimes, we get a little bored...and we need something fun to do...so Jenny entertains us...by being nerdy. She put on the glasses, pulled up her pants and became "Nerdy Jenny". She was so very funny

And she loved posing for pictures...

But she did have a little help from her big sisters...

which resulted in a little wedgie...aahh...summer fun!

More Summer Fun

No pictures but what a fun day we had. Our neighbors invited us to a cottage they are renting on Guernsey Lake. We got there about 11 and swam, did kayaking, paddle boat and went out on the pontoon and swam in the deep water. The girls had so much fun, we all got a little sunburned--again, I forgot sunscreen, and everyone is tired!

Kelly's favorite was floating in the water on a square foam thing. Abbey had a blast on the kayaks and Jenny just liked swimming. I even tried the kayak and I didn't fall over (Kelly and Abbey did, though!)

Thanks so much to the Porters for inviting us out. We had a blast!

Summer fun

We spent the week with Grandma and a quick visit from Gail and Anna while Kelly and Abbey were at Camp Geneva in Holland. We dropped off Grandma at Eva's and then Dave, Jenny and I went to Lake MI for the afternoon. I forgot suntan lotion so we all got a little sunburned but it was a fun day! The waves were huge so we held on to Jenny tight!

We played on the beach a lot since the water was about 69. Dave made this huge hole for Jenny.

We met up with our friends, the Riekse's and Jenny swam with Taryn for a few minutes. We had a quick dinner and then went to pick up the girls.
Abbey and Jenna were first. They had a fun time making tie-dyes and playing all camp games. They did lots of crafts and only swam once. They did get to go into Lake MI once. This was their first time going for the whole week!

Kelly and Sydney were next. This was their first time at the Pines camp and they got to do the zip line, the blob, and the saturn in the man made lake with a quick visit to Lake MI on the last day. They had fun making tie-dyes as well.

After everyone was picked up and we dragged Dave away from the blob (he was very jealous that he did not get to try it), we stopped in Byron Center to say goodbye to Grandma. The girls were sad to see her go but a little ice cream helped along with a possibility she'll come back for Christmas helped!

Keeping Grandma busy on the lake

After the zoo, we had a quick lunch and then went out to Jordan Lake which is in the city of Lake Odessa. Kelly spent some time tubing behind the boat while Grandma watched.
Then we stopped for a swim and Dave and the girls jumped in.
Dave hit a really big bug that blocked his view and it looked just like Jenny!
We went home for dinner and packed the girls for camp and then went out for a quick ice cream. We played a few games and then went to bed. Everyone was up at 6a.m. to next morning to go to camp. We had a fun day with Grandma...we did everything we would normally do with her all in one day. I'm not sure who was more exhausted-Grandma or the kids!

Keeping Grandma busy at the zoo

We are keeping Grandma busy here in Michigan. We went to the Zoo in Lansing and Jenny insisted she be a Tiger...
And a Momma Kangaroo with Jenny as the baby...
And a Lion. We had a fun morning walking around seeing the animals. The girls took turns with the digital camera and were taking pictures to enter into the fair in Aug.
The older 2 only got to spend Sunday with G'ma alone because we brought them to camp on Monday. So spend time we did...see next post!

Pre-4th celebration

We had a pre-4th celebration last night. The neighbors came over and we did sparklers and other little fireworks.
This is our neighbor Dana, who brought over 2 of the 3 boxes you see sitting on the ground.
Jenny hams it up for the camera. She loves the Morning Glory Sparklers.
Kelly's directing the crowd with her sparklers.
Abbey's directing, too! We did little fireworks out front and then waited until it got dark, moved to the back yard and then did the big ones. Lots of fun was had by all...more fireworks all day today!

Happy 4th of July!!!!

Dad's Off Sea to Sea

Here's Dave's Dad starting his Sea to Sea bike trip. The tradition is to put the back tire of your bike in the Pacific and the front tire in the Atlantic. So far so good--no news is good news. But, if you want to keep updated, Dave's sister Lisa is keeping a blog: http://rogerseatosea.blogspot.com/ if you want to check it out.
We're praying for all the bikers safety!
