Halloween

Introducing...Jenny Feenstra as Hannah Montana! And Abbey Feenstra as a Hippie (or Flower child as one lady called her)And Kelly Feenstra...who, in this picture, was "tired"Together with Mom, who was "sick", together we were "sick and tired"!! Annual pictures with the neighbors...it was great to take the pictures in the light on a beautiful night. Time change happens this Sunday!
In this picture, Kelly is a prisoner. She went off with her friends while we went the opposite way! When we were done, everyone was "tired"!!

Pumpty Dumpty takes GRAND PRIZE!

Abbey's 5th grade class had a pumpkin decorating contest. Abbey made Humpty Dumpty sitting on a wall with a few of the kings horses and men. She won GRAND PRIZE today!! She called it "Pumpty Dumpty"! We thought she did a great job! Dave helped make the wall and draw the lines on the wall but Abbey did most of the rest of the work! This is what her competition looked like. There were a lot of very creative pumpkins! Here are a few of my favorites (besides Abbey's of course) I like the cheerleader, the dog... Santa was pretty cool...

And an awesome hoola girl!

Some other creative ones...

Abbey did a great job! Now, were resting before we head out for 2 hours of non-stop candy fest! Bring on the Reese's!!!

Don't run with Scissors...or sit on them

Dave and I made an unexpected visit to the ER last night...for me! I was sitting in the chair cutting out some of Jenny's homework. I must have let the scissors slide off my lap and they were in the side of the chair. I put Jenny to bed and came back to the chair and sat down and had immediate pain...I thought a spring in the chair broke. Nope, it was the scissors.

It went right thru my pants and into my thigh. I took off my pants and Dave came in and said "We're going in to get stitches." I really didn't think I needed any but there was a big hole and there was a lot of blood-not a good thing for Dave to see.

So, we told Kelly and Abbey to go to bed and we left for ER. We were home around 10:30p.m. (this happened around 8:15p.m.) with 3 stitches and a perscription for antibiotics and Motrin 600. I didn't feel anything on the ride home, in fact it felt great! (Gotta love the numbing medicine) but it did bother me all night since I normally sleep on that side (Right) so I had to adjust my sleeping.

I feel O.K. today, it is very tender and I'll change the dressing when I get home from work since it's not looking good. They said it may break open several times and may need to heal from the inside out. It was a good hole...Deep and Wide.

So here's your lesson for the day...Don't run with Scissors, or sit on them.

Weekend Update

Matt and Gail and Anna came up for a visit the kids played in the leaves for a while. They had fun but I'm not sure how many leaves got raked up!!

This afternoon we went to our friends, the Riekse's and "helped" them rake leaves...again, lots of fun was had by all but I'm not sure how many leaves were raked up!

As you can see, they still have quite a few leaves on the trees so it was a little bit like shoveling snow while it's still snowing. Maybe when all the leaves are down, we'll help do a big rake!!

This is what we've been up to!

Finally!!! Pictures! We often go to the Humane Society to see the animals--it's usually with Dad when he's got the kids for the weekend but I go with sometimes, too. It's a great thing to do on a rainy or cold Sat. (And it's FREE!) Well, the girls have been begging for about a year to be a volunteer so we finally went to a training session and we are now official volunteers and we can in the cages with the dogs (not my favorite!) and get the nursery key and hold the kittens and the puppies. Now, I can totally handle that!! Here's Abbey in a cage with several kittens. It was a riot trying to get her out but keep the kittens in. At one point we had 4 people chasing kittens all over the room!

This is Jenny pretending to be a kitten! This is Kelly holding a cat. On this day, which was a Thursday, these animals really needed some human contact so they were very affectionate. It really says to me that they need volunteers to come in and just pet them. I'm not ready to take dogs for a walk but maybe someday!
We went to a wedding this weekend of Dave's cousin Lauren. Here's the happy couple. It was a beautiful wedding in Allendale and then the reception was in Grand Haven at the old Piano Factory.

This is the bride and her sisters and mom...these are all Dave's Cousin and Dave's Aunt Margaret.

Lisa and Victor were there, too so I grabbed their picture by the water.

And made them take a picture of us!!

Abbey's 5th grade class performed at the Color Cruise this past weekend. They played their recorders and sang. They did a beautiful job.

After they were done, they had some free time so this is where I found Abbey...with the bunnies:
She spent several hours there the next day with her friend Heather who had to work with the bunnies for 4H. Abbey loved it all!
Jenny went to the Color Cruise, too on Friday and she was in her friend Tess' group. They had a super fun time.
While these guys were checking out the beautiful fall colors, Kelly was working! She belongs to a group at school called STAND and they do service projects. Their service project was helping the PTA fundraiser Tailgate party. We hooked up with her later and had dinner there and then watched the Homecoming parade.
This is Kelly and her friend Sydney (you made it to the blog, Syd!!)
We've had a busy few days and I finally remembered our camera!!!
