Abbey is 11!!

Eleven years ago...here's Abbey...I remember that day so clearly! We looked up the time she was born and it was exactly 5:37p.m. so we celebrating in the car on the way to church!

Abbey was a very cuddly baby. I often commented that I wish I had someone who could come in and just hold her while I got stuff done because she just liked being held!

Well, here's the birthday girl, 11 years later! Still as cute as ever!

We celebrated her birthday in reverse this year. We had church commitments on Weds., her actual birthday so we went out to dinner at Johnny Rockets with Grandma and Grandpa Feenstra on Tues night.

Then had cake and ice cream, then went to bed...
In the morning, she had Daddy waffles with Blueberries on them for breakfast,

then opened presents..she got a new MSU sweatshirt!

Then brought Dirt Cups in for her birthday treats for school (which, by the way are WAY easier and yummier than cupcakes!!)

And then came home from school, made more dirt cups for the neighbors and then went to church. She had a fun day in reverse! I can't believe she's 11!!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, ABBEY! WE LOVE YOU!!!

Trip to WI-Part Three-The ride home

Who can resist stopping by the Jelly Belly factory? Not us! We went for a little ride that explained how Jelly Belly's started and how they are made. We HAD to wear the hats
We got to see some awesome art work all made from Jelly Belly's!

And of course, got to taste some...these were our favorites!

YUM!!!!!

They had an awesome car that Kelly wants to drive in a few years!
Then, it was off on the really long part of the drive...here's Abbey's view point of the ride...

Bored...so let's do our hair!

And take fun pictures...

Here's what we saw in Illinois...

We saw a beautiful sunset...and still drove...we got home at 11:30p.m. and almost everyone slept until 10 this morning. A fun time was had by all!

Trip to WI-Part Two

We stayed at a hotel called Wilderness Hotel and Resort. The hotel had 3 waterparks. This was the view outside our window. We are looking at the Black Hole--our favorite ride! All the outdoor pools were closed but a few indoor/outdoor hot tubs were going. We played a round of 3-D mini golf which was really fun!
And went on tons of rides. There were a few body rides and a lot of tube rides.

There was a lazy river in one part. We met our friends-the Breukinks at the hotel-we had adjoining rooms so we ate dinner together and watched MSU lose together. There were a lot of water falls and toys and slides and fun! Here are the adventure riders...they just got off the Hurricane! We walked around the hotel and they kept stopping here...the candy store...who can resist all these beautiful colors. Everything is so shining..it's just begging you to come in and taste...we made a few purchases here! And the ultimate Lazer Tag battle...Adults vs. Kids...Even though I took all these pictures so I really wasn't a contributor to the game...

But we had lots of fun! Everyone wants to go back...we'll see...maybe Wisconsin will become the new Florida for MI people...we'll start advertising now!

Trip to WI-Part One

We went to Wisconsin for Spring Break!! No suntans but at least no snow--more than I can say for Grand Ledge who got a few inches!!
We drove all the way to Brookfield (just outside of Milwaukee, where I grew up) on Sunday. We stayed in a hotel and the girls swam and had fun.We had a quick breakfast and then I took everyone on the tour. We went to my old grade school--it used to be Milwaukee Christian--even though we were in Brookfield but they have changed the name--and expanded the building and got a new mascot! We got a tour of the new school from the principal who is an uncle to one the girls I went to school with. His niece is Sue Brasser--or Sue B. as I know her! He said he also knew Sue T., whose husband is principal in Oostburg, and now he's met me so he's seen all three of the Sue's-who he called legendary! (I guess it is quite unusual to have 3 Sues in a class of 8-10 kids who went to school together from K-8th grade and then on to high school together!)
Then I took them to my old house. Here we see a car parked next to the garage, just like we did...
except our car looked like this...

My brother Dan had this car parked next to the house while he was on his bike trip around the U.S. which took about 2 years (with a break of a few months for him to work so he could buy another bike after his was stolen.) I had quite a few kids ask me if I lived in the house with the Zebra car.

Then we met one of my high school friends at a mall. This is Cori and I now--I'm still looking for the album of our pictures from high school. We had fun catching up. She got to meet my girls and I will meet her boys some day! We rehashed our old high school memories...

including torturing this teacher...we called her Bubbles...or maybe she tortured us, I'm not quite sure. Anyway, it was fun and then we were off to the Dells...
